Hi to alle,

i have a couple of nexus 7010 (5(2)3a) connected to a checkpoint in HA(active/active)

I have now to configure multicast mac..i found this commmand:

interface vlan xx

ip arp <ip address VIP FW> <0100.5exx.xxxx>

vlan configuration xx

layer2 multicast lookup mac

then

mac address-table multicass <0100.5exx.xxxx> vlan xx interface e3/7

when i insert teh last coomand i get the following error:

invalid mac:0100.5exx.xxxx,ip based range

any idea about to solve this issue?

Re: multicast mac on nexus

Hello Alessandro,

a possible solution (if supported on Checkpoint side)  is to map the FW VIP on a multicast MAC address that does not belong the the range for IPv4 multicast as explained in the following link.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_configuration_example09186a0080a07203.shtml#configs

any MAC with the last significant bit of most significant octet set to 1 is multicast for example

0300.5e11.1111.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
