Multilink Problem

I have one 7206 vxr and 3845 routers ..in between 2 E1s i am trying to add into multigroup interface .

but after giving membership to serial interface E1s goes down and interface multilink status is down down .

Can someone please help me :

Here is the config which i doing

Intface multilink 3

ppp multilink

encapsulation ppp

serial0/1:0

ppp multilink

encapsulation ppp

ppp multilink group 3

same for other link as router .

Thanks ...what be will be diffrence if i give

# multilink-group 1 or # ppp multilink group 1 under interface .

Please help.

the logical multilink interface should also need "ppp multilink group 3 "
