I have a Cisco 1841 connected to a DSL modem for its WAN link. The service provider gives us a static IP address by having us send a DHCP request and they allocate it statically based on the MAC. This is configured and working.
The service provider offers the ability to get a second static IP on this link, which I would like to access. The only way I can use it is to send a second DHCP request to the DSL modem with a second MAC address. I can obviously do this by connecting two Ethernet interfaces to a L2 switch and then connecting that switch to the DSL Modem, but I'd like to do this without the L2 switch in the middle. Is this possible?
