At one of our Locations, we're going to have two PPP Leased Lines for internet purposes, 2Mbps each. Can we do some config in the router to make this 2 + 2 leased line, a 4Mbps leased line. i.e. can we get 4 Mbps on the lan port of the router. If yes, then how.
The providers are different entities, so the WAN IP subnets are different.
In addition to Edwin's suggestion, you can also divide your LAN to 2 parts and using NAT and PBR you can have some of the traffic going out of the first link and the other going to the second link and both can be redundant to each other.
As Mohammed do make use of 2 different blocks of ip address and do keep in mind the performance of each SP link so that you can force the specific important user's traffic via the high performance link and the rest of the users with other ip block via the secondary link.
For that you need to create Access-lists matching both the blocks and bind them under a route map statement with respective SP interface as next hop interface.
Thanks, But this config is already persisting. The config is done in such a manner that since there are 2 Lan Ports and 2 Wan ports, the traffic of one lan port's subnet goes towards one wan subnet and other lan port's subnet to the other wan IP. Both the lan ports are terminated on a firewall which is taking care of load balancing. But my question still stays there only i.e. is there a way by which we can get 2 + 2 = 4Mbps speed on LAN port of the router?
You are practically provided with 2+2Mbps from 2 different links provided your SP has configured to permit 2+2 at his device.
The bandwidth available in router is under your admin control to ensure how much bandwidth you want to allocate to each block or how you want to forward the traffic based on the internal requirements of your org.
