Hi,

We hv one STM-1 link provided by service provider. This has been configured

in channelised E1 links. I got two optic pair from service provider.

Further two optic links has been provided by same service provider from the same MUX as

redundant link to each other. And service provider has configured these two optic links in their ring,

such that if one optic goes down then the STM-1 will be served by another optic link.

Now at router we have two STM-1 module, one optic link is connected to first

STM-1 module and all channelised configuration done in it.

Problem: How to configure another STM-1 card to serve the network in case

first optic link goes down. ( As a hot standby)

Note : Also if i make both STM-1 card UP then all remote sites appear twice in the router.

Note :Please mail me at kashyap_kamal@rediffmail.com

Thanks

Kam

For hot standby, place the card sets and connect the appropriate cable to the paired ports on the active and hot standby cards. The hot standby card will automatically configure itself to match the configuration of the primary card. This process may take up to eight minutes. After the configuration transfer process is completed, the transfer from the primary to the hot standby card takes less that one second regardless of the number of connections.
