cisco.com/go/ipsla
I would recommend Solardwinds Engineering edition due to its simplicity and ease of use.

PingPlotter is one of my favorites.

Solarwinds Engineer toolset is good, but if you want to trend data you could use the Solarwinds Orion.

Wont a normal ping resolve this? Please advise me.

using normal ping, you may not be ablt to trace any CRC on interface causing the errors and making the node not respong to the ping requests.
Then, using normal ping you would not have any idea exactly WHEN any of your nodes stopped responding to ping request and WHEN it came back to normal. In other words, you will not be able to anylze the historical events.
