network module test

i have a 3745 with a nm-hdv network module with a vwic1mft-t1 card installed and i cant the new t-1 to come up - i get int up line protocol down. i replaced the module and the controllers with new equipment and still cant get the circuit to come up. the telco has reprovisioned the line and replaced the smartjack - still no luck. so my question is how can i test the interface between the network module and the router? i need to make sure it's not my hardware before i press the telco anymore.

If you have a up/down condition it is more than likely not a hardware issue in your router.

Normally you start with the provider giving you a loop from the smart jack toward your equipment. If you can't see that then you have a cable or module issue.

Build a loop plug by with 2 short wires and connecting pin 1 to pin 4 and pin 2 to pin 5. Put this directly in the router. You should get the interface up/looped. If not you built the plug wrong or you have a bad router interface.

You can put the loop plug on the end of the cable just before it plugs into the smart jack. If you get up/looped you know it is not your problem and it must be the smart jack or the provider didn't give you a proper loop when you tested this.

i put the circuit in a working controller and the interface came online. i could have a config issue but i dont think i do.

Any ideas?

One thing to look at, how far away is the smart jack from the router? You may need to shorten the cable length. possibly the level is too high. When the cable length is set to long the output Db level is increased because it is anticipating a long cable length. lower the Db level by shortening the cable length..It can't hurt....
