No Layer 3 Connectivity (ATM PVP/PVC)

We have recently setup a PVP to a provider to provision Layer 2 DSL services.

We have the following on our 7200:

!

interface ATM1/0.36 point-to-point

description ATMI Interconnect with Provider

bandwidth 2000

no ip route-cache

pvc Provider_Intercon 11/36

vbr-nrt 4000 2000

tx-ring-limit 3

oam-pvc manage

encapsulation aal5snap

!

!

interface ATM1/0.38 point-to-point

description ATMI Client_A L2 DSL

bandwidth 2000

ip address 192.168.0.249 255.255.255.0

no ip route-cache

pvc Client_A 11/38

ubr 2048

tx-ring-limit 3

oam-pvc manage

encapsulation aal5snap

!

Configured IP(192.168.0.249) on pvc purely to prove end-to-end layer 3 connectivity to client DSL service. Provider has configured 192.168.0.100/24 on there device, and client has connected PC directly to router(Operating as bridge) with 192.168.0.10.

I can see both IP's in my arp table:

#sh arp

Protocol Address Age (min) Hardware Addr Type Interface

Internet 192.168.0.100 12 10 / 110 ARPA ATM1/0.38

Internet 192.168.0.10 0 VCD#0013 ARPA ATM1/0.38

But cannot ping either:

#ping 192.168.0.100

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.0.100, timeout is 2 seconds:

.....

Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)

#ping 192.168.0.10

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.0.10, timeout is 2 seconds:

Also getting "non RFC-1577 compliant ARP Packet" when I debug ATM arp:

Jun 27 20:55:59.233 AEST: ATMARP(ATM1/0.38): Received non RFC-1577 compliant ARP packet on VCD#4

Jun 27 20:55:59.233 AEST: ATMARP(ATM1/0.38): Received non RFC-1577 compliant ARP packet on VCD#4

Layer 2 connectivty appears fine (Provider can see cell flows in both directions) - Wondering what could cause Layer 3 to fail?

Re: No Layer 3 Connectivity (ATM PVP/PVC)

hi try to add this inside the pvc

protocol ip remote_ip broadcast

eg

pvc 11/38

protocol ip 192.168.0.100 broadcast

!

Re: No Layer 3 Connectivity (ATM PVP/PVC)

Got it working by adding:

"atm route-bridged ip" to interface ATM1/0.38 point-to-point
