no OSPF route record in the routing table

topology:

R4----R1----R2----R3

R4 and R1 under OSPF area 4, R1 and R2 are running area 0, and R3 and R2 in OSPF area 3.

From R1, I can see:

R1# sh ip ro

* - candidate default, U - per-user static route, o - ODR

P - periodic downloaded static route

Gateway of last resort is not set

20.0.0.0/30 is subnetted, 1 subnets

C 20.20.20.0 is directly connected, Serial2

40.0.0.0/24 is subnetted, 1 subnets

C 40.40.40.0 is directly connected, Serial4

Re: no OSPF route record in the routing table

It would help us be able to give you a better answer if you would post the relevant parts of the config at least of R1 (interface configs and any routing config).

Re: no OSPF route record in the routing table

Hello,

also the output of "show ip protocol" on R1 would help to see what is going on.

By any chance:

a) did you modify the administrative distance to 255?

b) Do you have OSPF VRF config in place, because then the down-bit could cause the observed behaviour.

Hope this helps!

Regards, Martin
