Non-existent route-map behavior

For a mistake I've forgot a non-existent inbound route-map applied to a BGP neighbor and this router has not been receiving any advertisements from this neighbor.

So I need to make sure this issue is caused by the non-existent route-map or it could be related to some trouble on the BGP neighbor itself.

Can you please help in order to clarify what is the behavior of the route-map on this situation?

Fernando,

The advertise-map does not prevent the router from receiving updates from the neighbor. Do you have any other filter apply to this neighbor? Is the neighbor sending updates? You can do a "show ip bgp nei x.x.x.x" to see if any prefixes from peers are denied by policy:

Outbound Inbound

Local Policy Denied Prefixes: -------- -------

route-map: 0 1

Bestpath from this peer: 1 n/a

Total: 1 1

Number of NLRIs in the update sent: max 0, min 0

The currently config on the CE router is:

!

router bgp 1

no synchronization

bgp log-neighbor-changes

network 0.0.0.0

network 10.10.254.156 mask 255.255.255.252

network 10.164.79.244 mask 255.255.255.252

neighbor 10.164.79.245 remote-as 65000

neighbor 10.164.79.245 send-community

neighbor 10.164.79.245 default-originate

neighbor 10.164.79.245 soft-reconfiguration inbound

neighbor 10.164.79.245 route-map deny_default in

!

This router has been advertising routes to the PE successfully, but unfortunately it is not receiving any one from the PE.

Fernando,

Sorry about the confusion. I clearly misunderstood your original question. I though you were referring to an advertise-map/non-exist-map.

In your case, the fact that the route-map is non-existent will cause all updates to be denied. That explains why the CE is not accepting any routes from the PE.
