OSPF ROUTES

If I filter an external route from the routing table with distribute list,

1. Will the LSA for that route still be in the LSB.

2. Will it be advertised int the LSA to OSPF nei?

3. Can it be redistributed into another routing protocol.

Re: OSPF ROUTES

Hello Just,

1) yes the LSA will be in the LSDB for the link state nature of OSPF

2) yes because no outbound filtering is possible (unless you use passive interface or other commands but in that case no OSPF neighborship will exist) this is a way to create a black hole.

3) no because to be redistributed from OSPF to another protocol two conditions need to be met:

the prefix has to be in the source protocol database

the prefix has to be installed in the routing table by the source protocol and in this case the second condition isn't met.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
