HI;

this is little outside question than Network.

I jus wanna know can any one tell me how can i find out the a perticular application bandwidth requiremnet or how much bandwidth used by that perticular application. Is there any tool by which i can justify myself or our Managemnet that the bandwidth utilisation of application is so and so.

Hello,

you can use "ip nbar protocol-discovery" on a router interface to get the amount of packets and bytes transfered by a specific application.

Be aware however, that bandwidth utilization has two components:

1) bytes and throughput per transaction

2) user number and behaviour

Especially the latter is not so simple to predict in some cases.

In case you would like to get a really detailed picture about your bandwidth utilization, you might also have a look at netflow.

For further reading a good starting point would be:

www.cisco.com/go/nbar

www.cisco.com/go/netflow

Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.
