Outlook and NAT

We are running Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 server. At the remote site, for some unknown reasons, Outlook 2001 running on the Macintosh, stays on the splash screen for 30 minutes before it opens. Once it opened, we were able to send and receive e-mail messages normally. There was no delay of sending or receiving e-mail messages.

The Macintosh computers are running DHCP with the private IP address. We also setup the private IP address manually at the Macintosh. Still, it did not speed up the opening of Outlook. However, the PC's do not have any problem of opening Outlook (Outlook 2003). I would like to know if NAT (Network Address Translation) would cause the problem of opening Outlook. Please let me know if you need additional information or have any suggestions. Thanks.

Re: Outlook and NAT

can this be a problem of Address resolution. Try adding a Exchange host address to this and see if it makes any differnce.

Re: Outlook and NAT

Hi Nixon,

Thank you for your suggestion. Adding the Exchange host address to the HOSTS file did not make any difference. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.
