PA-POS-OC3MM connectivity issue

Hi

I have a STM1 interface on my 6509 and the interface is multi mode. I want to connnect to the service provider transmission equipment but their equipment supports only STM1 on Single mode.

Have you guys seen a situation where once side is Single mode and the other Multi mode working on a multi mode or single mode cable. I am thinking of testing this setup in a lab later on. But till then i wanted to kn0ow if anyone had come across this before.

Hi,

this is not going to work without media converter. The output levels and optical properties are just too different.

The diameters of MM fiber and SM fiber are very different and the result could be no connectivity or even damaged receivers.
