packet drops due to throttle and no buffer

Hi All,

Any traffic exiting one of our router in the network are getting packet drops. That router is the last hop in our network after that it enters our peerings network. On checking "show interface gigabitethernet" we found the throttle and no buffer counters are increasing.

Would like to know what is the cause for this issue and is there any CLI available to change the default value of buffer allocation in the router

regards

Arun Kumar

Re: packet drops due to throttle and no buffer

hi arun

"no buffer"Indicates the router is out of memory or slowed down due to heavy

traffic and cannot keep up with the received data. check for the interface load and cpu & mem usage also.

one more thing u can check is the duplex setting on the router .

Re: packet drops due to throttle and no buffer

congestions or heavy traffic load is most likely the cause of your issue. as ullas, mentioned you would want to check on the duplex/speed settings your peer devices. you can tune your router's buffer. here's a link on how to do it:
