First there was "Big Brother" then there is Hobbit. Big Brother is now a commercial product, but folks that were involved in its creation have now created "Hobbit" which is open source. It is a simple interface for quick monitoring of numerous devices by pings, snmp, DNS query and others via a web based interface. The response times can be fed into "larrd" to give graphs as well.
