I am having 6509 router, it is giving cpu utilizations as 80%. When i run Show process cpu, i am getting all the results as well as process description. One of the process is "Port manager per". I want to know the meaning or function of this process..
The basic function of the Port Manager on the switch is to take care of the physical ports on the switch.
The other functions of the port manager are:
-Dealing with modules
-SPAN port management
-Port Channel FLOGI handling
In other words the Port Manager is responsible for all the traffic passing through the port along with the port status as per the configurations that have been done on them. It also takes care of the the behaviour of the traffic that is leaving or entering the port. The staus of the port is also set and maintained by the port manager
