Hi friends,

I am with problems on the my connection ppp. I created static router, the communication between routers is established, I obtain connection to IP of the LAN port on the routers, the my problem is that I do not obtain connection the stations of the side of the LAN, only until the IP of the port LAN of routers. What it is necessary so that the communication continues until its final destination?

Thanks,

Bruno Santos

If you can reach the LAN of the remote router and the remote router can reach your LAN, then routing is functioning properly.

If the workstations at either LAN can't ping each other, then make sure the default gateway of the workstations are pointing to their respective LAN IP of the local router.

HTH,

__

Edison.

Edison and friends, exactly, I don't not understand which is problem.

See my scene.

Default gateway on the network 53.107.52.0/24 is 53.107.52.254

RouterX (WAN IP 10.0.0.10)

RouterX (LAN IP 53.107.52.10)

RouterY (WAN IP 10.0.0.20)

RouterY (LAN IP 53.107.53.10)

The static router for routerX is 53.107.53.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.0.2

The static router for routerY is 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.1

My problem is that the hosts on the network 53.107.53.0/24 do not obtain communication with hosts on the network 53.107.52.0/24 through of the router 53.107.53.10.

These switches will be only used for the communication point to point with other place.

In this other place does not exist other router, only the router 53.107.53.10, different of the other place that have the default gateway (53.107.52.254) and the router for this communication.

The return on the communication is necessary? Is necessary a route on the router 53.107.52.254 for the router 53.107.52.10? As the router 53.107.52.254 is the default gateway for all hosts on the network 53.107.52.0/24 is necessary a static route in this router for the router 53.107.52.10?

Sincerely, I don't understand the cause of the problem in this communication.

Analysing my scene which configurations is necessary ?

Thanks,

Bruno Santos

1) The default gateway on hosts located in 53.107.52.0/24 should be 53.107.52.10 - Router X LAN interface - NOT 53.107.52.254.

2) The static route on Router X for 53.107.53.0/24 should be 10.0.0.20 - Router Y WAN interface - NOT 10.0.0.2

3) The static route on Router Y should use the gateway of 10.0.0.10 - Router X WAN interface - NOT 10.0.0.1

Edison, sorry

I wrote wrong, your reply for questions 2 and 3 is correctly but for the question 1 you it did not understand. I have two routers on the network 53.107.52.0/24, the default router 53.107.52.254) that use for communication with internet and others places (example: USA, England) and the other router (53.107.52.10) which use for point to point communication. I want that the hosts of the network 53.107.53.0/24 obtain communication with the network 53.107.52.0/24. OK?

Thanks,

Bruno Santos

In that case, Router 53.107.52.254 should have a route for network 53.107.53.0/24 pointing to 53.107.52.10

...exactly, this for communications of the hosts on the network 53.107.52.0/24 for the hosts on the network 53.107.53.0/24, but for communication of the hosts on the network 53.107.53.0/24 for the hosts on the network 53.107.52.0, remember that in this network does not exist other router, only the router 53.107.53.10 and this obtain connection normally the LAN port of the router 53.107.52.10, but not the hosts of the network 53.107.52.0/24.

Friend, thanks

Bruno Santos

Don't you have a default route on the router hosting 53.107.53.0/24 pointing back to the router hosting 53.107.52.0/24?

Well, that should take care of all routes.

Sorry, I did not understand. The ping command of the host on the network 53.107.53.0/24 it functions without problems until the LAN port of router 53.107.52.0 (53.107.52.10), but not in hosts of the same network of router.

Thanks,

Bruno Santos

It won't work until you add the route to the 53.0/24 network in the 52.254 router.

This route should point to 52.10

In the 52.254 router do:

ip route 53.107.53.0 255.255.255.0 53.107.52.10

Very good friend. But this resolve the communication of the hosts on the network 53.107.53.0/24 for the hosts on the network 53.107.52.0/24, that is my main problem. With its explanation I understand that a bidirectional communication for a successful communication between the network is necessary. Correctly?

Thanks,

Bruno Santos

Correct.
