PPP not forming on Serial Line

Hi,

We have 3745 series router on which we have chnnelised E1 controller with 30 64 kbps links leased lines . These links are up and working with HDLC encapsulation. But when we are trying to encapsulate few of links in ppp , protocol is not comig up. Is it necessary that all 64 kbps links must b eencapsulated with ppp ?

when we check show cdp ne , we see that it has found a cisco router of other side of lease line.

Has it anything to do with IOS of both side routers.

Any link on cisco.com is appreciated.

If you are able to see CDP neighbors it means layer 2 is up because CDP acts on layer 2.For troubleshooting PPP
