I have this 1721 router that won't fully boot. As soon as you turn it on it shows
System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(7r)XM1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
TAC Support: http://www.cisco.com/tac
Copyright (c) 2001 by cisco Systems, Inc.
C1700 platform with 32768 Kbytes of main memory
program load complete, entry point: 0x80008000, size: 0x8b7e7c
Self decompressing the image : #################################################
################################################################################
############################ [OK]
Then it pauses for a couple seconds and reboots ang goes through the same thing again.
If I press the CTRL+Break it get me to rommon 1.
What else can I do with this router or is it garbage?
FYI: I have very little Cisco knowledge so please be clear in any instructions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
(1)What arethe interface cards inserted?Pls remove them once and try.
(2)If there is a corrupt image, you can boot using ROMMON mode using "tftpdnld -r" which boots the router without using flash.

Pls revert back if above does not work.

There are no interface cards installed.
When I do a "tftpdnl -r" it says missing or illegal ip address. If i enter "set" it says
PS1=rommon ! >
TFTP_CHECKSUM=1
BSI=0
RET_2_RUTC=0
RET_2_RTS=
?=1
I don't have another IOS to load.

You need to follow the procedure of the link from Desai. If you do not have an IOS image, you need to contact the Cisco reseller or distributor to get the IOS image. If it is still not work, it may be a hardware failure.
