Problem with excessive 08:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx mac addresses on cable modem

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place, but here's the problem. I have a PIX connected to a cable modem - no switch in between or anything else - just a cable between the PIX an modem. About 2 or 3 times a day, the Internet connection drops. After considerable time troubleshooting this with the ISP, they say there were 16 mac addresses behind the cable modem. The cable modem can only have 16 mac addresses, so it appears that when the PIXes mac address times out, another 08:xx:...:xx mac address takes its place. The PIX's mac address cannot therefore get into what I guess is the bridge table, so it can no longer pass traffic. The only way to get back on line (access to the Internet) is to reset the power on the cable modem. The following table came from the ISP. The first column is the mac address of the cable modem. The second column is the IP address of the cable modem. The third column is the IP address of the PIX, and the fourth column is the mac address behind the cable modem. The actual mac address of the PIX is 00:07:85:aa:7e:80. Thanks for your time.
