Problems using CISCO 1900 series switch

i have a new CISCO 1900 series switch, part number is WS-C1954-EN, i can't seem to ping my gateway at all, firstly, one network cable is connected to CISCO 1900 at PORT 1 from another switch(my gateway), then, one network cable is connected to CISCO 1900 at PORT 2 from my computer, however, i can't ping my gateway, i can't even't use the winipcfg in DOS prompt.

Can any experts give me a solution for this case.

can you try ipconfig from dos prompt and check ..

can you log on to the 1900 switch and check the current config.

also do you have any idea on the config on the gateway switch like vlan deatails and port config on the gateway switch which is geting connected to 1900 switch..

Yes, i have tried ipconfig using Dos Prompt, can't work, i even used winipcfg, but there's an error msg "DCHP Server Unavailable. Renewing Adapter".

FYI, the gateway address in the switch have already been set accordingly.
