QoS on DSL circuits

Where should a LLQ service-policy be applied on a SOHO DSL router, e.g. 837 for voice? I have seen configurations with the service-policy configured on the Dialer interface (assuming PPPoA) and, alternatively, on the ATM sub-interface. Given the DSL service has about 256k upstream bandwidth, should LFI also be configured? We don't control the remote end of the router so we can't do cRTP, and all we can really achieve is to ensure the voice packets are transmitted as soon as possible if there is outbound congestion.

Hi

whatever qos config you do on your router its very much local to your router.

Once it gets onto the Service Provider network where you dont have any kinda priority configured for different traffic patterns i dont see it will be effective to have so.

Qos actually meant for end to end priority which gives you better results.

If it breaks somewhere in the path then you wont be able to experience the difference of having the same...
