"encapsulation failed" ping error

I have configured subinterface at one end PE and other side media terminate on L3 port of PE getting encap failed error when debug icmp .

Can anybody explain

What is your layer 2 encapsulation, encapsulation failure indicates layer 3 to layer 2 mapping problems, can you paste your configuration ?
