Hi all,
I am new to Cisco QOS. Hence, I am not sure if there is a diff between rate-limit and QOS? Which method to be used under which circumstances....

Hi,
Rate limiting is part of QoS. You are restricting traffic to particular bandwidth using rate limit, so other traffic will not be affected.
Let us say you have 1Mbps wan link and you restricted ftp to 128Kbps. So at any point of time, it will not cross 1Mbps and will not choke the wan bandwidth.
It is part of QoS.

Hi Siva,
Thanks for the explanation. From your description, would it be the same if I use class map with ACL features the same? I am not too sure which method would fit best to control bandwidth to the internet cloud. Rgds.
