Redistribution question

I would like to understand the mechanism behind redistribution:

When redistributing from one routing protocol to another are the injected routes ALL the BEST routes of the originating process, or all its topology table (assuming there is one), or only the routes of the originating process that were installed in the routing table?

It's only the best routes already installed in the routing table of the distributing router.
