redistribution rip metric

Hi Experts,

I am puzzling with this..I have this router eigrp config as below but is WITHOUT Router RIP command. So, what is the command " redistribute rip metric 15000 500 255 1 1500 " for if that is the case?

router eigrp 10

redistribute rip metric 15000 500 255 1 1500

passive-interface default

no passive-interface Serial2/0

no passive-interface Serial2/1

no passive-interface Serial2/2

no passive-interface Serial2/3

network 13.31.0.0 0.7.255.255

auto-summary

Thanks in advanced!

Re: redistribution rip metric

that is correct.

if in doubt use

sho ip route summ

this will show you all routing protocols in use and prefixs.

Re: redistribution rip metric

I would have a guess and say nothing. Its often the case commands like this are left in after clean ups or migrations and someone didnt take it out.

If no routing process is running then the redist command will not perform a function on that named process unless it exists.

Re: redistribution rip metric

If RIP is not being used, you can go ahead and remove this configuration

Re: redistribution rip metric

Thanks Robert! for your quick response!! :D

,can i say even another router connected to the core switch together with this router having RIP, this command doesn;t serve any purposes on this particular router?

Thanks Narayan! :)

so, the same question will be what i posted to Robert..If that is the case, i can proceed to remove this and if there is "redistribute static metric" but NO STATIC ROUTE Existed,

i can also remove this command rite? ;)

Thanks.
