Regarding 1+1 & 1:1 link protection in IP & SDH (APS)

Dear all,

I need to validate one point for my customer. The VT point is:

"The routers shall support 1+1 & 1:1 link protection to ensure high-speed link restoration in IP & SDH environments (APS) within 50 msec"

I searched in Cisco site & i found that routers support 1+1 link protection in APS.

Now my requirements are:

1). what is 1:1 Link protection?

2). Data Sheet Link or full commands through which i can show as a proof of 1:1 link protection?

3). Data sheet proof for showing 50 msec or less time for link restoration?

The router is :

Cisco7609

Cards: 7600 SIP 200

SPA-8X-CHT1/E1

SPA-2X-OC3-POS

Kindly help me urgently!!

Hello Rajeev,

I've found this document that explains APS for the ONS 15000 platform

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/optical/ps2011/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00802212bb.html

the protection link and the APS can be provided by the Optical ODM or can be managed by the client / router using two SDH router links.

1) A protection 1:1 is when a backup link is ready to be used if the primary link fails

2) the APS commands are given in interface configuration mode

see the following link for APS command ref.

interface and hardware component reference

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/interface/command/reference/ir_a1.html#wp1011573

3) the 50 ms comes from SDH technology I don't think you need to demonstrate it.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
