Regarding Password mismatch in 2960 cluster.

I have configured 2960 commander with basic management commands.

Then after typing "rcommand 1", I have configured the first cluster member with same management commands and paswords as in commander , after "copy run start" and coming out of 2960. I am unable to login again to this cluster member because of password mismatch.

Can anyone tell me which password does it take for cluster membership like enable or the password from username...password command.

Thanks.

It uses the enable password of the remote switch. On the commander, you add "cluster member mac-address password ".

Hi John,

Your reply is helpful. We have configured only enable secret on cluster member.

after using the command mentioned by you and giving enable secret password the switch is throwing error as:

%ERROR: Member 1 already exists

%ERROR: Cannot add member

Your response will be appreciated.

Thanks.

You'll have to remove the existing member. You cannot modify existing member's passwords.

Do a "sh run | i cluster" and find the one that you want to remove. Remove and readd with the password. It should work for you.

John

I had had a similar issue. This syntax worked for me. Thanks John!

"cluster member mac-address 0000.1111.2222 password <YOUR PASSWORD>"
