RIP 2 with MD5

hi all,

Our service provider is capable of running RIP 2 with MD5 in their network, so they asked us to run RIP with MD 5 in our router for their network.

Router<---modem and service provider network.

Now, they are having problem with RIP 2 with MD5 in their network and they have disabled it in their system (CMTS).

My question is do we also have to disable RIP2 with MD5 in our router? If I do not disable it, Does it create any problem or send unnecessary traffic? Please advice.

Regards,

Khan

Re: RIP 2 with MD5

Hi Khan,

you have to disable RIP2 MD5 auth in your router; if not, you wont exchange updates with ISP router.

Re: RIP 2 with MD5

You mean my router still sending updates to our ISP, but there router is not capable of receiving any updates as they have already disable it RIP2 MD5.

Conclusion is I must have to disable it in my router, otherwise it will keep sending periodic updates to its neighbors. Please advice.

Regards,

Khan
