Hi,
I have lab with 2600 and mostly 12.1 IOS ..I have used rip v2 in my case and I see the route take around 60-90 sec to disappear from routing table after they get a poisoned route for that destination. I am not modifying any rip timers..and As per boooks it should take 240 seconds..it shows ''possibly down '' for around 1 minute only..but As per books its should be 180 sec..
Any idea..

Hi,
you should be able to get some detail if you issue the show ip protocols command.
For example:
Routing Protocol is "rip"
Sending updates every 30 seconds, next due in 27 seconds
Invalid after 180 seconds, hold down 180, flushed after 240
Outgoing update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Incoming update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Redistributing: rip
Default version control: send version 2, receive version 2
Automatic network summarization is not in effect
Maximum path: 4
Routing for Networks:
Routing Information Sources:
Gateway Distance Last Update
Distance: (default is 120)
