RJ48C or RJ45

Hello,

We have a C3700 router with WIC VWIC-2MFT-E1 , and we need to replace it with another WIC : VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1

and I have 2 questions here :

1- the cable used with this WIC as wan cable is rj45 cable ,is that right , or have we to change it to RJ48C

2- generally , when we have wan connection , can we use RJ45 cables or we must use RJ48 and why ?

Note that : the main problem is that the wan connection is flapping and affect our customer

RJ45 cables work well with the xMFT-E1 modules. We have >20 modules running on RJ45. It is therefore not likely that your issue is related to the cable.

Most issues that we had with this kind of connections were related to incorrect grounding of the modem and/or the router. This may very well be the same here.

actually we have some recommendation to use RG48C , so do you know any information abot this kind of cables and when to use it

Cisco prescribes the RJ48C in the installation note.

However, these cables are hard to get and for short connections (<3m) it works just as well with a plain RJ45. The pairing of the signal wires is the same and that is the most important.

Please also note the grounding requirements as described in the attached URL.
