Its usually a problem where the router cannot load the IOS file. from rommon, you can check where the IOS file is located and try booting the IOS from rommon.

issue the following commands in rommon

rommon 1 > dev --- To see what devices are available on the router

rommon 2 > dir bootflash: To search for the IOS to load from bootflash

rommon 3 > boot bootflash:<IOS image> To boot from the IOS image you saw in dir bootflash:

If you configure dev and do a dir of all the valid devices shown and you dont see a valid IOS file in any of the boot devices then that is your problem.

Hello Siddartha,

Please issue "set" command on the ROMMON prompt to see what is the boot image value. You can verify if the boot image is correct by issuing "dir flash:" in the rommon prompt. Sometimes the boot image is set to a file that is not present in the flash. Also, other thing you might want to reset is the configuration Register value. Please use "confreg 0x2102" so that the router always boots using the first image available in the flash. If these did not fix the issue, please post the bootup sequence output (output on the console when the router boots up and goes into rommon" so we can look for any errors.

Hope this helps.

NT
