If I have a network learned via both EIGRP and EBGP.

My understanding is IGP is always prefer over BGP can anyone tell me if thats correct.

Let me say it again if a route is learned both via eigrp and bgp eigrp will be prefered regardless of admin distance

I do not believe that this is correct. In deciding which route to put into the routing table if the router has learned the same prefix from both BGP and from EIGRP the router considers administrative distance. To fully answer your question we need a few more specifics. If the BGP is EBGP then its AD is 20 and would be more attractive then EIGRP.
