Route Redistribution - How?

Router A runs EIGRP, B runs RIPv2 and C runs both. On C, the rip config includes redistribute eigrp 7 and the eigrp config includes redistribute rip. Router A includes redistribute static.

Will router B learn the static routes from A? How about default routes - are they redistributed?

Thank you.

Paul

P.S. This is a real network (router B is an L3 switch)!

Yes, RouterB will learn the static routes that are redistributed into EIGRP on RouterA. The reason being RouterC would learn the RouterA's static routes as external EIGRP routes and since EIGRP is redistributed into RIP on RouterC the RouterB should learn them as RIP routes.

The answer to the 2nd part of your question is yes as well. Default routes can be advertised via IGP using a number of ways and redistribution is one of them.

On a side note, when you configure redistribution make sure you set the metric for the redistributed routes or configure a default-metric under the routing process for redistribution to work.

Most helpful indeed. I may have a case of the missing metric. Will check.

Glad to be of help!
