Router 1601 interface problem

I tried to configure my modem for loopback mode however line protocol is still down. Change another router and line protocol goes up (looped) same config. Need to know how to veriy that the serial interface is indeed defective.

can u revert about the wan protocol being used in the earlier one and in the new router ?

is it ppp or hdlc ? being used in ur boxes ?

and also the type of the card like wic-2t or NM series module ?

Also the ios code being used in routers ?

have u tried in same kinda (1601) router or with some other model ?

Issue "sh int s0/x" and check the DTR & RTS (dte-dce syncronization) if it is up, if not, probably your serial is defective.
