Router crashing

Hi,

I have a 1811 router which is crashing at seemingly random intervals. Each time the router creates a timestamped crash file.

-Are there any tools that will allow me to see what the cause of these crashes might be?

-How can I know if the image I have in place is the problem?

What is the best way to proceed?

Re: Router crashing

Charlie,

As you have a crash file with you, you can use the stack decoder tool which is used to findout the unexpected router crashes and to decode the crash.

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Stackdecoder/stackdecoderinput.pl

You can try uploading another image onto the router. If its a IOS issue, then the router wont crash with the new IOS. If its some other issues you may contact TAC at Tac@cisco.com and they will take care of your problem.

HTH,Please rate if it does.

Re: Router crashing

Thanks Amit,

I was able to use the link you suggested and found that a bug in the firmware was crashing the router periodically due to logging against an ACL.

Much Appreciated

Re: Router crashing

Hi

Can you post the output and if possible attach the recent crashinfo file.

Regards
