Hi Friend,

Router in stick means intervlan routing using an external router.

You can configure your switch intetrface connecting to router as trunk and configure subinterfaces on router interface for different subnet with encapsulation dot1q command.

Check this link for more details and config guide

HTH, if yes please rate the post.

hi dhanraj,

Router on stick means you are confiugring the intervlan routing using the router connected with your switch which are having multiple vlan...

As we know different vlan can not communicate with each other directly...to make then communicate we need to have layer 3 functionality...so you can configre intervlan routing by the following way...

if your switch is layer3 then you do not need to have router, then at that time you configuring the intervlan routing on the switch bye creating switch virtula interface SVI...

but if your switch is not layer 3 and you want to make your vlan to be communicate with each other at that time you need to connect the router to switch and have to configure the router for the intervlan routing by creating multple sub interfacese on your router connected with the switch...and have to configure the trunking between the router and switch interface...

for more help look at this link: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/50.shtml

hope this will help you
