Hi
It's been awhile ....
If I copy the running-config to disk0:/running-config-112706.cfg
to restore that config
all I have to do is copy disk0:/running-config-112706.cfg running-config ??
no write mem ?

Not quite.. that second command will result in the config lines in running-config-112706.cfg being added to whatever else is in the current running-config. To completely replace the contents of running-config with the contents of that file, you need to do the following:
- copy disk0:/running-config-112706.cfg startup-config
- reload (without saving the current runnig config)
