Satellite link utillisations across 2600 and 3600 routers.

I understand that cisco has specified magin after which it declares a link connected accross two routers over utillised. Sometimes we have a Tx and/or Rx loads as high as 250. Could someone please help with percentage at least for a latency link.

As per Cico's spec its 255 which points out 100% utilisation.

You can better set the interface bandwidth to the proper value of the respective physical link connected onto that particular interface.

sometimes it tends to happen that though you have a E1 connected the bandwidth under the interface remains the default value of 1544Kbps which may display incorrect info coz the load (tx/rx) values are calculated based on the bandwidth set under the particular interface.

If you have set the bandwidth command correctly under the interface and if you still see 250 as utilisation its better to verify the input and output traffic values under the same which can also help to understand the traffic pattern.

once you are sure about the utilisation then u can decide to go for an upgradation or check the geniunity of the traffic ..coz some worms/virus may also cause spike in the traffic..
