%SCHED-3-UNEXPECTEDEVENT message on ASR1002

Tonight we got the following message in the logs of one of our ASR1002-RP1 platforms (which we use as PPPoE concentrators), and all PPPoE session attempts after that would get error 721 (Remote PPP peer is not responding) until the device was reloaded:

Oct 22 2013 20:15:52.821 EEST: %SCHED-3-UNEXPECTEDEVENT: Process received unknown event (maj 80, min 0). -Process= "IOSXE-RP Punt Service Process", ipl= 0, pid= 111

-Traceback= 1#5a8b3f796c20b795e21ca3229b9dd953  :10000000+73030C :10000000+7306B8 :10000000+5BC9898

I found similar information in the description of bug CSCuh46849, which is listed as resolved in IOS 15.2(4)S4 but is not mentioned in the Release Notes of the "corresponding" IOS XE 3.7.4S.

Also, the following entry shows up pretty frequently in the log of that ASR1002 (and doesn't occur in any other ASR1002-RP1-running-3.9.1S that we have) - docs don't shed much light on it, only advice to gather as much information as possible and contact Cisco Tech Support:

%IOSXE_INFRA-3-PUNT_ADDR_RES_ENCAP_ERR: Punted address resolution packet with unknown encap PPP

The main question is what exactly is this "punt" concept and what should I look for on this particular device that could cause any of the above?  Also, should I assume that every piece of IOS-related info applies to the "corresponding" IOS XE version (for example, 15.3(2)S1 ~ 3.9.1S) and vice versa, even if not specifically mentioned in both places?

Thank you.
