I have installed SDM on a 2811 router and it works great.

The issue that I need to correct to disallow access to SDM from our public IP address (204.x.x.x brings up prompt to enter router username and password.

How do I limit use of SDM to only the private LAN or VPN address?

You can make use of the command ip http access-class which can help you out to restrict the access to the router via HTTP.
