Serial Interface Queue Drops

Recently, I started monitoring the T1 interface and noticed that input queue has drops as well as having alot of total output drops. Below is the line from the show interface after 8 hours.

Input queue: 0/75/17/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 22747

From my initial reading it appears that I may want to start using a different type of queue. It is currently set to FIFO. Attached is the complete "show interface"

I was hoping that somebody would be able to shed a little more light on my issue. As well as some possible avenues to take.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi,

The input queue drops are small enough that I would not not be too concerned about them. However, the output drops are a bit of a worry. When did you last clear the counters ? It might be worthwhile to clear the counters and observe over a 5 minute period to see if it is a regular occurrence. It could be possible that the drops occurred as part of a burst of traffic and are not regular.

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
