connected to a Me3400 Switch in turn connected to server 10.194.208.108,

now issue is without giving route, vlan in Load balancer,

how can i give commands in Server so that i can ping to 10.194.208.180

Hello Cisco_blue,

I'm not sure to have understood your question.

you should configure a default gateway on the server pointing to load balancer ip address in the same subnet.

In addition to this if the server thinks that the ip subnet is larger it will try to send an ARP request for ip 10.194.208.180 thinking that it is in the same subnet.

A standard based extension to ARP protocol can be used to handle this case:

proxy ARP. (RFC 1027)

see

http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1027.txt

with proxy ARP the network device answers with its own MAC address to ARP requests for ip addresses that are out of the IP subnet and that would be unanswered in an effort to support workstations that think the subnet is bigger then what defined on the network device.

So you should try to check if proxy ARP is enabled on your load balancer.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
