I configured Frame Relay Back to Back between 2 routers with LMI.
Router 1 is acting as frame relay switch

Both routers have keepalive of 10 secs and LMI type is Cisco.Then also i am getting
Num status timeouts on R2 router?
Is this due to LAb design where i have back to back connection?
If someone can explain me please that why i am getting Num status timeouts on R2?

He Mahesh, Happy New Year
On both routers, can you issue "no keepalive" and test again?
also, are both interface are in up and up mode?

Both interfaces are up up.
I did no keepalive on both sides then both interfaces are up up.
but when i do

2691Router#
no LMI on both routers A and B.
As per mu understanding if we do no keepalive that disables LMI between both routers.

Hi Mshesh,
That is correct. Since there is no frame relay switch, and your interfaces are configured back-to-back, there is no need for LMI.

I know the INE example and i have config both back to back on my routers that is with and without LMI.
I check the cisco output
INFO: Interface Serial0/1 is configured as a DTE, using LMI type CISCO. This type of interface should be attached to a frame-relay switch. Examples of a frame-relay switch are either a router with 'frame-relay switching' enabled and whose interface is configured as a DCE, or a traditional frame-relay service provider (such as a circuit vendor). On Interface Serial0/1: WARNING: The number of LMI status inquiries sent (Num Status Enq. Sent) and the number of LMI status messages received (Num Status msgs Rcvd) are out of sync. 74.28346% of the requests that this router has made to the service provider have gone unanswered. TRY THIS: Watch these three counters for the next 30 seconds
. 1. If 'Num Status Enq. Sent' and 'Num Status msgs Rcvd' are incrementing equally, and 'Num Status Timeouts' isn't incrementing at all, then LMI is being exchanged between this router and the remote frame-relay switch. This indicates a healthy state.
2. If 'Num Status Enq. Sent' and 'Num Status Timeouts' are incrementing equally, but 'Num Status msgs Rcvd' isn't incrementing at all, then there is a problem with the logical or physical connectivity between this and the remote frame-relay switch. Make sure the physical connectivity is good, that the remote frame-relay switch owner has configured their equipment correctly, and that both the local switch and the remote frame-relay switch are using the same LMI type (ANSI, CISCO, or CCITT/Q933A).
in my case sent and receive are increasing equally that is i have case 1 as per cisco note above.
No of time out is not incrementing.So as per cisco it seems ok
