Site-To-Site Recovery Without BGP

hey all, we're working with a customer with a replicated network at two separate data centers. they'll be advertising the same prefix block from both locations (anycast bgp). i've seen documentation where iBGP is required between both data center sites. is this required? as path prepending will be the preferred method on the backup data center site. thanks for the help.

Hi

If this is different hardware in differnt locations, but a complete copy of each other, then IBGP will not be needed.

hey adam, yes ... different location with different hardware. there is a private circuit and vpn tunnel between the locations for replication.

Hi

Then ibgp is not needed or going to help in this setup

hey adam, they'll be advertising the same prefix block from both locations using the same AS number. that shouldn't be a problem, right? if not a problem, then at the backup site, we'll implement as-path prepending so it is not preferred. thanks.
