I have a customer which wants to replace his (9) Cisco 1720 routers with just one router capable of handling (9) point-to-point T1 lines. Is the Cisco 2811 capable of this and what might the configuration look like? Thanks...
Even a 2801 can do up to 16 T1's nowadays. It would use 4 x HWIC-4T cards. But better would be to use a router with T1 interface to avoid the external V.35 converter. In that case the best density is onthe 7200, with the PA-MC-8T1. Also ask your telco if they support channelized T3 that would allow you to terminate all the T1's with a single physical interface.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
