Spanning a Port on a router?

Hi, is it possible to configure spanning (mirroring)in an ethernet port on a 7200 router? there is no option under the interface configuration, any ideas? thanks!

Starting with IOS version 12.4(20)T, you can do a packet capture on the router itself. If you're running other code, I don't know of any way to do it.

try to use netflow instead which can give u lots of statistics

Thanks, Netflow is great, I use it, but what I'm trying to do here is sent all spanned traffic to an IPS device.

Hello Borman,

if you can introduce a LAN switch and do SPAN on it

You just need three free ports and a new vlan.

Or use IOS IPS.
