hi experts,

we have 2 sites connected via BGP on a 10mb bandwidth link. both end can give 18ms average when ping.

On our side, is there a way to speed this up? or like LAN? What's a effective and practical way of doing this?

tnx

Hello Robert,

you should compare and consider the following options:

- a link speed upgrade

- deploying a solution that uses WAN accelerators like WAAS

for WAAS see

the performance gains you can get with WAAS depend on actual traffic patterns in your company.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

As Giuseppe describes, WAAS(/WAFS) technology is the way to try to mimic LAN performance across a WAN. However, with 10 Mbps to work with and 18 ms latency, you might be able to improve user perceived performance via QoS. I.e. a QoS configuration that keeps interactive/transactional traffic from being adversely impacted by bandwidth demanding traffic.
