Static route to backup link ISDN.

I have a problem. Our network using satellite to communicate with the ship. only using static route to initiate direct connection to our network here in HQ. but if sometimes when the satellite fails we need to physically plug another cable to the other router to initiate dialup isdn. is there any ways to give priority to static route to enable automatic link backup when one of the Satellite is down the link can be up the other side using isdn without mannually change route and plug in cable everytime this case occur.

For what i know static route cannot advertise the fail at the Satellite side only dynamic routing can be able to advertise if the nearest neighbor fails.

*Note the Satellite connection can only use static route.

please help

Re: Static route to backup link ISDN.

Hi

Whats the interface on which your satellite link is connected ?

Is it connected onto a ethernet port of your router ?

If yes do u have an extra isdn port on your router where your satellite link is connected ?

You can think off using object tracking feature on your router to make use of your isdn backup when your primary link goes down..
